Designing control, safety & simplicity into one of the smallest — yet most critical — components of a pressure cooker. This project transformed a functional part into an intuitive, premium user experience while keeping internal engineering unchanged.

The Challenge

Pressure cookers are at the heart of everyday cooking — yet the smallest component controls safety and performance. TTK Prestige wanted the 2-Stage Weight Valve redesigned to feel intuitive and premium, without altering the internal mechanical system. The challenge was to make invisible pressure stages visible — through design alone.

The Design Approach

We studied real kitchen behavior — cautious touches, waiting moments, and quick steam releases — using empathy to guide every design decision.

Empathy — Everyday Pressure

  • Stage 1 – Full pressure for tough foods
  • Stage 2 – Half pressure for delicate dishes
  • Stage 3 – Steam release for cooling

Invisible pressure stages were translated into visible, tactile feedback that felt right before functioning.
